Yes! Breathe has regularly scheduled Complimentary Info Sessions with the Director and Graduates of the Program. The format includes an Informative Presentation followed by an Open Q & A over a period of about an hour. Attendees also get a complimentary 1 Week Unlimited Yoga Pass to try out the studio. How experienced do I need to be with yoga to do the 200 hour teacher training?
You should have a minimum of 6 months of yoga experience, practising at least twice per week.
Who are teacher training programs for?
Teacher Trainings are for students who love yoga and want to expand their realm of yoga knowledge. Believing that every teacher needs to be a good student, the Breathe Teacher training program teaches you to become a dedicated student of yoga first, and then a teacher.
How should I prepare before the program starts?
As soon as you are accepted into the program we recommend that you begin practising at least 2-3 times per week and start reading to prepare for the lectures (Breathe provides a Reading List upon acceptance)
I’m not sure I want to teach at the end of it. Should I still take the program and how much of a focus will be on the teaching part of the program?
Many students of yoga enrol in our program out of sheer love of yoga without having the intention to teach. A wonderful thing about a teacher training is that at the end of it, you have a more enriched practice, and have the skills to teach if you so choose to. Some make the transition into teaching, many don’t. The choice is entirely yours. What we can say with certainty is that your love of yoga will continue to grow!
How much time outside of class do I need to dedicate to the program?
In addition to attending mandatory classes, there are readings and homework assignments. Count on at least 2-4 hours per week of personal reading time.
What is the Yoga Alliance? How does that apply to the training program?
The YA is a professional association which sets standards for Teacher Training programs that have to be met by those offering programs. It also gives students the added benefit of Association membership in the form of reduced price Yoga Teacher Insurance.
What if I’m not very flexible?
You don’t have to be flexible to do yoga! Over time, yoga gives regular practitioners the gift of greater flexibility along with so many other health benefits.
How long before I find out if I’ve been accepted?
Once you apply to Breathe Yoga & Wellness through our Yoga School, you will be invited for an interview with the Director. Thereafter a response will normally be provided within 2-3 days.
How many times per year is teacher training offered?
Breathe Yoga and Wellness Centre offers both a Winter (January) and a Summer Intensive program (July).
If I have an injury or physical limitations, can I still take the program?
It will of course depend on the injury. We will assess your ability to meet the requirements of the program together with you.
Is there a minimum age to take the program?
Applicants should be a minimum of 18 years old.
Where can I teach when I finish the program?
With a Yoga Certification from Breathe Yoga and Wellness Centre and as you build your teaching skill set you will be able to teach anywhere Level 1 yoga classes are offered.
Does it matter where my self practice hours takes place?
If you live within the GTA you will be required to do your practice hours at Breathe Yoga. Exceptions may be made for out of town students.
What are some career opportunities after completing teacher training? Is this an expanding field and what are the benefits of having this additional specialization?
If you are like most Graduates, once you have your Yoga Teaching Certification a whole new world opens up to you. You can continue practising at a more advanced, informed level just out of love for your yoga practice, you can move to teaching Vinyasa classes or you can continue your studies and specialise in order to teach other forms of yoga, including to those with special needs.

What happens if I can’t make one of the classes?
In case of a family or work emergency, Breathe records all workshops and seminars. If you miss one, you will be able to make it up by watching the video and completing an assignment.
