Amongst her clients at Breathe, including owners and teachers, Tanya is affectionately known as our miracle healer. As an osteopathic manual practitioner, she uses her hands-on expertise to help patients feel better. Tanya combines a thorough understanding of human anatomy, biomechanics, physiology and health sciences with strong intuitive skills and an inquisitive nature. This allows her to recognize how a patient’s unique physical, mental and emotional experiences are affecting their body and their health. The most effective osteopathic treatment begins with the acknowledgment that each person’s condition is unique. As an osteopathic manual practitioner, her goal is to restore balance in the body. Tanya practices yoga and is a part of Breathe’s Teacher Training Faculty teaching Basic and Advanced Anatomy.
Tara’s passion for learning keeps her on the cutting edge of treatment advancements. She believes in combining manual therapy, yoga and other exercise, and retraining your functional movement patterns.
Tara obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario. She took her passion for science and fitness education and obtained her teaching degree from the University of Toronto. Tara continued her education and earned a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy. She has also taken post graduate courses in Manual Therapy, Dryneedling, and is a Functional Movement expert. Tara has taught workshops at the Toronto Yoga Conference and has a passion for combining Physiotherapy with Yoga to keep you happily and safely on your mat. Tara’s passion for learning keeps her on the cutting edge of treatment advancements. You will gain an excellent understanding of your injury and security in your recovery. Helen believes that the most effective work is done slowly. Soft tissue has personality and needs time to accept and respond to manipulation. Her intention for each massage therapy treatment is to provide a balanced approach — alternating between intense, focused work on specific sources of discomfort and general rhythmic techniques designed to distract, confuse and soothe the nervous system — encouraging muscles, connective tissues, and the mind to relax and release held tensions. Her style would be well suited to those who prefer a firmer therapeutic touch. Helen’s default pressure is strong, so expect your tissue to be challenged!
Helen completed her training at Sutherland-Chan in 2010 and is continuously motivated by the opportunity to affect a positive change and contribute to the wellbeing of her clients.
She is excited to be bringing her practice to Breathe Yoga Studio and looks forward to the opportunity to be of service to the students and staff in the community, promoting wellness through massage therapy.
