OSTEOPATHY:  Osteopathy is a “natural medicine” and manual therapy discipline that is useful for many bodily complaints and injuries. It is based on the philosophy that all systems of the body are reliant on each other.  It can be helpful for old and new problems alike, and it seeks to identify areas of the body that are restricted or constricted.  Its main goal is to help restore the human body’s natural equilibrium and harmony. Osteopathy approaches anatomy, physiology, pathology, and biomechanics as interrelated throughout the many systems of the body. The patient is treated with a global approach, so rather than simply treating the symptom the body is treated as a whole entity – physical, emotional,  social and spiritual. Patients of all ages can benefit from osteopathy.

PHYSIOTHERAPY:  Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals with a significant role in health promotion, prevention and treatment of injury and disease. They combine their in-depth knowledge of the body and how it works with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat flawed movement patterns that lead to illness, injury or disability.

We analyze movement with an excellent understanding of the body’s anatomy and biomechanics. This allows us to work to protect the body and restore efficient pain free movement patterns. Treatment usually includes, manual therapy, dry needling and a very specific exercise prescription that focuses on neural patterning and muscle retraining.

DRY NEEDLING: Dry needling targets anatomical structures that are the underlying cause of musculoskeletal conditions. The benefits are: decreased pain, decreased muscle tension and improved function. Thin filament needles are inserted into various targets that have been determined to be the underlying cause of the painful condition. They are left in from several seconds up to 20 minutes. The insertion of needles into tissues causes the release of substances that help improve blood flow to areas of tightness and changes sensitivity by neuro-modulating the nervous system. –The FIT institute
